Lisa and Nathan’s St. Catherine of Siena wedding and The Addison Event Center Reception

When Lisa’s mother called me to schedule a consultation to chat about her upcoming wedding, I was excited to finally get to know them.  Lisa and her family have lived down the street from me and go to my church; however, we have not actually been anything more than neighbors and acquaintances that wave and smile as we pass by.

Once they stepped foot into my studio and we began talking, I KNEW that I had been missing out on a great relationship. Lisa’s eyes lit up just talking about Nathan. I LOVE this family and I am SO happy that they are now part of our Texas Tradition Family. I’m also blessed to now call them MY FRIENDS instead of just neighbors.  Lisa has two sisters and a brother and they are all amazing! And… Nathan is the perfect addition!!

Lisa looked STUNNING in her dress and Nathan was MORE than handsome. They are such an amazing couple, and are such good loyal friends, it’s no wander they had ten wedding attendants! Yes, it was a big wedding party, but every one of them was a special part of this couple’s life. They were all invested in Lisa and Nathan’s relationship.

Why is Summer the best time to schedule my 2018 Senior Portrait session?

Oh, there are SO many reasons to schedule your senior portrait session during the summer. For one, YOU ARE FINALLY A SENIOR!!!  You are super excited right now to begin your senior year.

Summer is also the time when you don’t have any stress and you have a great tan! Once school starts you will be bogged down with homework, SAT prep and testing, college visits, Practice for Band, cheer, football, drill team and other Fall sports. And starting at the end of October, it will be dark outside by 5:00. So, that cuts out 5 days out of the week that you won’t be available. And… I’m pretty sure you teenagers like to have dates and social time on the weekends.

So, Grab your calendars and either give us a call or fill out the form at the end of this post.  We will set a date for your portrait session and then you can start shopping for outfits!  See you soon.

Welcome 2018 Senior Models

Please help me welcome our 2018 senior models.  If you follow us on Instagram, then you have already started seeing their beautiful faces. Our senior models do more than just model for us.  They are our street team… they representatives us around the community.  Our models help keep us informed of things that are going on at their schools and around town. AND they occasionally label post cards and assist me on shoots. These kids are invaluable to me!!

My last post says it all…

I have taken a little break from my blog and now that I have re-read my last post, I mean it even more.  You see… in January of this year, my husband… my partner of 23 years… had a bad motorcycle accident and passed away. So, what I have felt in the past, I’m even more passionate about now.  I treasure every minute we spent together.  Even the tough ones.

I have beautiful portraits of him and my family. We had tons of experiences and milestones together and I have pictures of all of it.

As Dr. Seuss once said “Don’t cry because it’s over.  Smile because it happened”

I am grateful for every second that I got to spend with my husband, my best friend, the father of my children.

Summer is fast and furious for me… a senior, wedding and family photographer.  Some might call me “just a photographer” but it’s not like that… not at all.  My seniors, brides, and families invite me into their personal lives to share their very important life milestones.

If I was “just a photographer” then I wouldn’t get this lump in my throat as a dad walks his daughter down the aisle to hand her future over to a young man that can’t possibly love her as much as he does…

…or when I see endless tweets of last season’s high school seniors packing their cars to head off to college. Who is going to feed them, protect them, love them?

Live_In_The_Moment_Blog 4 Being a mother and daughter myself, I can feel both sides of the fence.  I remember how excited I was to marry the love of my life. But, I remember my dad asking me if I was sure I was ready.

I also remember packing my car and heading off to college.  I was SO excited.  But, I also remember my parents driving off without me.

The funny thing is that we all know it’s coming.  At the start of our senior year, or the beginning of your engagement, we know where we are headed.  If we prepare properly, then we are ready.  It’s the way life goes. Ready or not, it’s time.

As summer is winding down, I continue to share these life milestones with my families. I’m technically “just your photographer” but, really I feel more like part of your family.

So, from the family member who is on the outside looking in, my advice to each one of my 2016 seniors, parents of 2016 seniors, brides, grooms, parents of my bride and grooms, and now my 2017 seniors and their parents…
