Perkins Chapel-The Adolphs Hotel Wedding

The secret to an amazing wedding is to plan your heart out, choose professionals that share your same creative vision, and then let go and enjoy your day. It’s okay if something doesn’t go as planned, just relax and trust that your professionals will take care of you.

Rachel and Eric’s wedding was elegant, traditional and simply romantic.  I caught myself tearing up a few times when I saw how sweetly he looked at her.  Rachel has a heart of gold and I felt that everyone at the wedding  knew it too.Perkins_Chapel_Wedding_1

Rachel and her mom did most of the planning. They did an amazing job picking two perfect locations and wedding professionals who shared her same style. Garden Gate Floral Design worked their magic to create a sea of elegant arrangements. Jr. even dressed their precious dog.

Kelsi and Tonys’ Piazza in the Village Wedding

From my first meeting with Kelsi and Tony, I knew right away that I really wanted to photograph their wedding. Aside from the fact that they were/are both ADORABLE, their wedding was at Piazza in the Village.

Piazza in the Village is in Colleyville and it is SO beautiful! I have wanted to photograph there since it was built, but haven’t had the opportunity.

Kelsi and Tony did an amazing job planning their special day.  They thought of every detail. From the hanger holding the bride’s dress, to the groom and his mother’s dance, there always seemed to be one more thing to be excited about.  Who says you can’t have it all? Take a peek at some of their wedding photographs.

The Plano bridal show was perfect.

Texas Tradition PhotographyWe had a really fun time at the bridal show yesterday.  And when I say “we” I mean the future owner of Texas Tradition Photography and me.  My daughter is just 11, but she has been my sidekick since she was born. She has had a camera in her hands since she was about 2 and has been doing odd jobs in the studio with me forever.  Up until now, her responsibilities have been stamping postcards, shredding important documents, sorting dance school and team photographs and cleaning. Although I have been teaching her Photoshop and Lightroom, I don’t allow her to work on client images.  She always practices on personal images or copies.

A couple of years ago, we had the opportunity to photograph a friends wedding which was outdoors, so I gave her a camera and she followed me around and actually captured some really creative images.  Although I was proud of her professionalism and creativity, she was still a kid.  Ever since that wedding, she has been asking to come along with me to shoot “real” weddings.  I told her I just can’t take her.  I gave her a time limit of high school. I told her when she reaches high school, I will take her on some more important shoots.

Well, I bought this really cool customize-able app for my clients.  I decided to create one for the bridal show and give it to all the potential brides. Well, this involves loading it on each bride’s phone.  Once I set it up and got it all ready, I couldn’t figure out how to save it on the home page of the phone.  And of course it is different for i phones and androids.

Linzy can into my office and asked me why I was frustrated, I told her and she said, here mom, let me try.  Within two minutes or less she had it figured out. She looked up at me and said… “I guess you  have to take me to the bridal show” BRAT! So, that is how my 11 year old, wormed her way into my bridal show booth.  But, I will say, she was professional and pleasant and we had a lot of fun.

Dallas Wedding Couple Jennifer and John Tie the Knot on Valentines Day at The Old Bedford School

It has been rumored that Valentine’s Day is the most romantic day of the year.  Once you take a look at Jennifer and John’s Valentine’s Day wedding, you will know FOR SURE that it was their most romantic day EVER!

Image

The beautiful floral arrangements were created by my very good friend and floral designer Kevin May from May Flowers and Gifts. (shameless plug 214-507-2837) The bride was very excited when she saw how amazing they looked.

Image

The red and white Valentine Theme was very romantic. The bride seems to have a BIG heart!

Image

The Old Bedford School was full of historical things. Every direction you turned, there was more to see.  The backgrounds were limitless.

Image

The Bride and Groom decided to have a first look in the class room. You should have seen John’s eyes light up when he saw his bride for the first time. She was stunning!

Image

Jennifer and John met back in 1988 when they went to school together.  They used to pass notes back and forth during class.

Image

YAY!!  He said yes!

Image

It is very easy to tell these two are crazy in love. John couldn’t take his eyes off his bride.

Image

The Ceremony was beautiful!  I just loved these “love” blocks on the alter.

Image

The Bedford School has incredible character. We could have photographed this couple all night!

Gorgeous couple, Gorgeous Venue!

The Catering and the Cake were prepared by Sweet Memories.  The presentation and the food were perfect.

They gave us a box of Turtle Chocolates!!!  Alyssa and I had a very “sweet” ride home.

She Said Yes!!! – Dallas Wedding Photographer

Right around Thanksgiving time, I got a call from a long time client with some great news.  She was super excited to tell me that her daughter was getting engaged. If you know this mom, you know she struggled to tell me this without crying!! Everything she does is BIG and PASSIONATE! After all, why do something if it isn’t going to be the best it can be? Besides, this is her only daughter.  And this guy… well he is definitely “the one”.

So, with his permission, she scheduled me to be hiding out at the location where he was going to propose to her. We had everything orchestrated so I knew exactly when they would arrive and where they would be when he dropped down on his knee.

1 Carrollton Engagement portraitsWhen I arrived, I saw the mom, Debra and the groom’s mom in the Gazebo decorating with some beautiful rose petals and roses.  The Gazebo was already decorated for Christmas, so it was absolutely breath taking. As they arrived and were walking toward the gazebo, I was hiding behind a big white Van in the parking lot.  (along with the rest of the family)2 Frisco engagement portraitsAlyssa and Joseph are high school sweet hearts. He absolutely adores her! She was completely caught off guard.  She had no idea that tonight was “the night”.3 Dallas engagement portraitsAnd SHE absolutely adores him! Super busy wedding week – North Dallas Wedding Photographer

Just like any other business, Photography has “seasons”.  The year is half over and we have already gone through dance season, and the first half of children, sports, school and senior season. But there are two seasons that are year round;  Newborn babies and weddings. This week has definitely been a week of “working” the wedding season. Also, just like in every other business, the best clients come from referrals. And one of the perks of being in the wedding business is getting to go to some fabulous parties while meeting people that you can refer and can refer you.

And I’m the girl who doesn’t EVER get out of the house (unless I’m working). So when my florist friend Kevin May, of May Flowers and gifts, (shameless plug) asked me to go with her to the AWP and ISES Happy Hour on Monday, I was excited! It was a date.  We really had a blast! I saw some old friends like photographer Allen Fagan and Mary Beth from Bride and Groom magazine. And I had the pleasure of meeting some new friends like Gail Rocquemore from A.D Parties & Events, Colin Alphonso from the new Windsor at Hebron Park, Jeff Christenson from Jay Fox Productions and Krystal Powell from Weddings by The Kreative Consultant. There were SO many more.  I even had a glass of wine. (Kevin was driving).

And then… Kevin invited me to Culinary Art Catering’s grand opening of their Nuvo Room last night.  The place was amazing. It is a very unique, modern, contemporary room in North Dallas. It was very different from any place I have seen before.  And the food was SO beautiful.  YES… it was BEAUTIFUL!  The chef is an artist. And again, I met some wonderful people. And I also saw some of the same people that I met on Monday.  What a fun week!  Now, I’m back at the studio trying to get caught up on some actual work for a few short minutes.  It’s time for “meet the teacher” at Homestead Elementary and my daughter is ready to go.  But, my wedding “perks” aren’t over.  Wait until you hear what I have planned for next week.
